The proud city of Orlaine is the capital of the country of the same name. The Royal court resides in the castle overlooking this prominent city which has been used as a seaport since before the creation of the spiritual dragons. Its ancestry points to Elemental and elven origin, but it is very hard to find any physical evidence of this since humans have built buildings upon buildings upon buildings for centuries. It is rumoured that human civilisation in this part started within the site which the Shining City stands, indeed Elves have always been drawn to this area. The population of the city is mostly human, although approximately 40% of citizens are, or can trace their immediate ancestry to elves. Whilst this can make the city seem aloft, it does provide the humans of Orlaine protection and commerce via their immediate nebours to the east. Dwarves are seldom seen, keeping mostly to short visits with the caravans from Zufzar and apart from common rumours of uruks holding high positions in the church of Katanal, most demihumans are virtually unheard of within the city walls. The majority of Guilds keep their main guild building within The City but access is normally only to Guild functionaries and clerical staff. Adventurers are not welcomed with open arms into the City, although they are not refused entry, they are discouraged strongly from staying more than a ten day within the walls. This is mainly due to the City’s nobility belief that where there are Adventurers, there is trouble. Of course, Adventurers will claim that it’s the other way round, but only to start trouble in the first place.
